What Giving Has Given Me

As the year comes to a close and we wrap up our final programs of the season, I find myself reflecting on the profound gratitude I have for the work we do. While entrepreneurship doesn’t come without its set of growing pains, stressors, and challenges, it also brings invaluable lessons, growth, and a deep sense of fulfilment. Those who start a business, start it because they have a problem to solve or a clear impact to make. I’ve been fortunate enough to work alongside so many like-minded people throughout this journey growing our giving year over year, and this year, here’s what giving back has given me.

Connection

To myself, to my purpose, and to others. Each and every time we get to host a group through a social impact break, team building activity or CSR activation, we have the opportunity for real connections.

Purpose

Something that isn’t quite tangible but brings so much and is so important. I’ve written about finding our purpose at work in this post, and it continues to reign true as I experience it in a number of ways through my role at WholeHearted but also through the experiences we’re able to create for others.

Gratitude

The hard truth about our work is that the need is endless. While we’re able to make a difference bit by bit, we continue to be reminded that non-profits are under-resourced and the demand is overflowing. I’ve seen firsthand the impact of our small acts of kindness can make and it serves as a continuous reminder of just how fortunate we are, for things, experiences, people, and love.

Community

This might just be the biggest one for me. Finding “my people” through this journey of giving has been the most soul-filling, energizing part of it all. Aligning with others who share the same mission, vision, and values for a greater tomorrow has meant that every day I get to wake up looking forward to what lies ahead in my inbox and inspired for the change we can make together; something I will never taken for granted.

To those who have been part of the ride with us through 2024. Thank you. It means more than you know and we can’t wait to share the next chapter with you as we do more good, together.
